शिवाजी कर्डिले हे 2009 मध्ये अपक्ष म्हणून प्रथम निवडून आले होते. त्यानंतर त्यांनी राष्ट्रवादी काँग्रेस कडून लोकसभा निवडणूक लढवली होती, त्यात त्यांचा पराभव झाला होता. 2014 ला पुन्हा आमदारकी लढवत विजय मिळवला, पण 2019 च्या निवडणुकीत त्यांना पराभवाला सामोरे जावे लागले होते.
\nदरम्यान, अहिल्यानगर जिल्ह्यातील राहुरी विधानसभा मतदारसंघाची व बारामती या दोन्ही ठिकाणी 23 एप्रिल रोजी पोटनिवडणूक होणार आहे. तर 4 मेला मतमोजणी होऊन निकाल लागणार आहे.
