चाहत्यांची नाराजी
\nकार्यक्रमाच्या खराब व्यवस्थापनाचा आरोप करत संतप्त चाहत्यांनी कोलकाता येथील सॉल्ट लेक स्टेडियममध्ये तोडफोड केली. स्टार फुटबॉलपटू लिओनेल मेस्सीच्या एका चाहत्याने सांगितले, “अत्यंत निराशाजनक कार्यक्रम होता. तो फक्त १० मिनिटांसाठी आला निघून गेला. सर्व नेते आणि मंत्री त्याच्याभोवती जमा झाले होते. आम्हाला काहीच दिसले नाही. त्याने एकही किक मारली नाही किंवा एकही पेनल्टी घेतली नाही. इतका पैसा, भावना आणि वेळ वाया गेला. आम्हाला त्याची एक झलकही पाहायला मिळाली नाही.”

\n १४ वर्षांनंतर भारतात दाखल
दरम्यान, लिओनेल मेस्सी ‘GOAT इंडिया टूर’साठी १४ वर्षांनंतर भारतात दाखल झाला आहे. मेस्सीच्या आगमनाने कोलकातामध्ये चाहत्यांमध्ये मोठा उत्साह संचारला असून, नाच-गाण्यांनी त्याचे जोरदार स्वागत करण्यात आले. यावेळी विमातळावर त्याच्या स्वागतासाठी देखील चाहत्यांनी गर्दी केली होती. मात्र सुरक्षेच्या दृष्टीने त्याला मागच्या दाराने हॉटेलवर घेऊन जाण्यात आले. त्यामुळे तो भारतात दाखल होताच चाहते निराश झाले. अखेर आजही स्टेडियमवर त्याला पाहता न आल्याने चाहते आक्रमक झाले.
\nलेक टाऊनमधील श्री भूमी स्पोर्टिंग क्लब येथे त्याचा ७० फूट उंच पुतळा स्थापित करण्यात आला आहे. पुतळ्याचे अनावरण लेक टाऊन येथे झाले असले तरी, मेस्सीचा मुख्य कार्यक्रम सॉल्ट लेक स्टेडियम येथे आयोजित करण्यात आला होता. मेस्सीने व्हर्च्युअल अनावरणांनंतर थेट सॉल्ट लेक स्टेडियमवर चाहत्यांना भेटण्यासाठी हजेरी लावली.
