त्याने असेही म्हटले की त्याने दारू किंवा इतर कोणतेही मादक पदार्थ घेतले नव्हते आणि अपघातात एका महिलेचा मृत्यू झाल्याचे त्याला माहितही नव्हते. पोलिसांनी दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार, गुरुवारी रात्री १२:३० वाजता वडोदराच्या करेलीबाग परिसरात हा अपघात झाला.
\nतपासात असे दिसून आले की रक्षित चौरसियाची कार १२० किमी प्रतितास वेगाने धावत होती आणि त्याने दोन स्कूटरना धडक दिली आणि स्वारांना ओढून नेले.
\nमृत महिलेचे नाव हेमानी पटेल असे आहे. ती तिच्या अल्पवयीन मुलीसोबत होळीचे रंग खरेदी करण्यासाठी बाहेर गेली होती. या अपघातात तिच्या मुलीसह इतर तीन जण गंभीर जखमी झाले असून त्यांना रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आले आहे.

रक्षितसह पोलिसांनी अपघाताच्या वेळी कारमध्ये उपस्थित असलेल्या कार मालक मीत चौहानलाही अटक केली आहे. मीत चौहान हा वडोदरा येथील एका खाजगी विद्यापीठाचा विद्यार्थी आहे.
\nतो मद्यधुंद असावा अशी भीती असल्याने पोलिसांनी त्याची वैद्यकीय चाचणीही केली आहे, ज्याचा अहवाल अद्याप सार्वजनिक झालेला नाही. पोलिसांचे म्हणणे आहे की हे स्पष्टपणे ‘ड्रंक अँड ड्राईव्ह’चे प्रकरण आहे आणि संपूर्ण प्रकरणाची चौकशी केली जात आहे.
\nया घटनेचा अपघातस्थळावरील एक व्हिडिओदेखील समोर आला आहे. ज्यात मद्यधुंद अवस्थेतील रक्षित अपघातानंतर गाडीतून बाहेर पडतो आणि ‘आणखी एक राऊंड’, ‘आणखी एक राऊंड’ असे ओरडताना दिसतो. तर तेथील जवळचे लोक त्याला पकडण्याचा प्रयत्न करतात.
\nघटनास्थळी जखमी लोक जमिनीवर पडलेले दिसतात. या व्हिडिओत कार भरधाव असल्याचे दिसून आले. दरम्यान, त्या तरुणाने माध्यमांशी बोलताना, त्याने केलेल्या कृत्यावर पडदा टाकण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. तो भरधाव कार चालवत असल्याचेही नाकारले.
