हा हीमकडा कोसळल्याने नदीच्या पाणी पातळीत अचानक वाढ झाली. त्यानंतर आजूबाजूची शेकडो घरे पाण्यात अक्षरश: वाहून गेली. ऋषी गंगा प्रकल्पावर काम करणारे सुमारे दीडशे मजूर बेपत्ता झाले आहेत. अद्यापही या भागात मदत कार्य सुरु आहे.

दरम्यान, या दुर्घटनेनंतर बॉलिवूड कलाकारांनी देखील सोशल मीडियाच्या माध्यमातून हळहळ व्यक्त करत आपले मत व्यक्त केले आहे. अभिनेता सोनू सूदनं ‘उत्तराखंड आम्ही तुमच्या सोबत आहोत’असं म्हटलं आहे. तर अक्षय कुमार याने उत्तराखंडमधील फोटो मन विचलीत करणारे असल्याचं म्हंटलं आहे. अभिनेता सिद्धार्थ मल्होत्रानं देखील तिथल्या लोकांच्या सुरक्षितेसाठी प्रार्थना केली आहे.
