चंद्रावर अंतराळ उतरवण्याच्या महत्त्वाकांक्षी ‘चांद्रयान-2’ मोहिमेचे ‘विक्रम’ लॅंडर चंद्रावर उतरवण्याच्या काही मिनिटे अगोदर काही तांत्रिक अडचणी आल्या. त्यामुळे ‘विक्रम’ लॅंडरकडून सिग्नल पाठवले जाणे थांबवले गेले. नियोजित वेळेच्या काही मिनिटे अगोदरपासून ‘विक्रम’ लॅंडरची स्थिती काय आहे, हे श्रीहरीकोटा येथील शास्त्रज्ञांना समजू शकले नव्हते. दरम्यान, चांद्रयान-2 मोहिमेमध्ये शेवटच्या टप्प्यात अडथळे आले असले तरी या मोहिमेचं 90 ते 95 उद्दिष्ट साध्य झालं आहे, असं इस्रोने अधिकृतरित्या म्हटलं आहे.

विक्रम लँडरशी संपर्क तुटला असला तरी इस्रोने पाठवलेला ऑर्बिटर चंद्राभोवती फिरत राहणार आहे. पुढची 7 वर्षं या ऑर्बिटरचं काम सुरू राहणार असून हे ऑर्बिटर चंद्राबद्दल महत्त्वाची माहिती पाठवत राहील असं देखील सांगण्यात आलं आहे. मात्र, इस्रोचा विक्रम लँडरशी संपर्क करण्याचा पुन्हा एकदा प्रयत्न केला जात आहे, त्यामुळे अजूनही आशा कायम आहे, असं इस्रोचे प्रमुख के. सिवन यांनी म्हटलं आहे.
