घटनास्थळी उपस्थित असलेल्या एका अधिकाऱ्याने सांगितले की, ढाक्याकडे जाणाऱ्या या बसमध्ये ४० प्रवासी होते. दौलाडिया टर्मिनलवर फेरीमध्ये चढत असताना ती नदीत कोसळली.
\nप्रत्यक्षदर्शींनी असेही सांगितले की, ४० प्रवासी असलेली बस फेरीच्या जवळ पोहोचत असताना एका लहान बोटीला धडकली. या धडकेमुळे बसचा तोल गेला आणि ती थेट खोल नदीत कोसळली.
