राज्याच्या निवडणुका पाहता तो अधिकार राज्याचा असल्याने यावेळेस मतपत्रिकेवर मतदान घ्यावे, असेही जितेंद्र आव्हाड यांनी म्हटले आहे. सध्या जनतेमध्ये ईव्हीएमबाबत संशयाचे वातावरण आहे. त्यामुळे एक प्रयोग म्हणून राज्यातील स्थानिक स्वराज्य संस्थांच्या निवडणुकीमध्ये मतपत्रिकांचा वापर करावा, अशी मागणी आव्हाड यांनी केली आहे. एवढेच नाही तर या संदर्भात मंत्रिमंडळाच्या आगामी बैठकीत आपण प्रस्ताव मांडणार असल्याचेही त्यांनी सांगितले.

\n२०१९ मध्ये निवडणुका बॅलेट पेपरवर घेण्याची मागणी काही राजकीय पक्षांकडून करण्यात येत होती. त्यावेळी निवडणुक आयोगाने यापुढे मतदानासाठी बॅलेट पेपरचा वापर होणार नाही असे सांगितले होते. त्यावेळचे मुख्य निवडणूक आयुक्त सुनील अरोरा यांनी मुंबईत झालेल्या पत्रकार परिषदेत आता ईव्हीएमवरच निवडणूक घेण्यात येईल असं स्पष्ट केले होते. यावेळी ईव्हीएममध्ये तांत्रिक बिघाड होऊ शकतो, मात्र त्या मशीनसोबत छेडछाड होणं शक्य नाही असेही सुनील अरोरा यांनी म्हटले होते.
