धर्मेंद्र यांच्या शेवटच्या चित्रपटाबद्दल बोलताना हेमा मालिनी म्हणाल्या, “‘इक्कीस’ चित्रपट प्रदर्शित झाला तेव्हा मी मथुरेत होते. तिथे माझी कामं होती. शिवाय, सध्या तो चित्रपट पाहणं माझ्यासाठी खूप भावनिक ठरेल. माझ्या मुलींनाही तसंच वाटतं. कदाचित मी तो नंतर पाहीन, जेव्हा या दुःखातून थोडी सावरले असेन.”
\nदरम्यान, देओल कुटुंबात मतभेद असल्याच्या चर्चांवरही हेमा मालिनी यांनी स्पष्ट भूमिका मांडली. “आमचं नातं नेहमीच चांगलं राहिलं आहे. आमच्यात परस्पर आदर आहे. लोकांना आमच्यात काही बिनसलं आहे असं का वाटतं, हेच मला कळत नाही. लोकांना गॉसिप हवी असते. मला त्यावर स्पष्टीकरण देण्याची गरज वाटत नाही. हे माझं वैयक्तिक आयुष्य आहे आणि आम्ही सगळे आनंदात आहोत,” असं त्यांनी ठामपणे सांगितलं.
