या निवडणुकीमध्ये रायगड, रत्नागिरी, सिंधुदुर्ग, सोलापूर, कोल्हापूर, पुणे, सातारा, सांगली, छत्रपती संभाजीनगर, परभणी, लातूर आणि धाराशिव यांसारख्या महत्त्वाच्या जिल्ह्यांचा समावेश आहे. एकूण ७३१ जिल्हा परिषद जागांसाठी ही निवडणूक होत असून त्यातील ३६९ जागा महिलांसाठी राखीव आहेत. तर १४६२ पंचायत समिती जागांपैकी ७३१ जागांवर महिला उमेदवारांना संधी मिळणार आहे. अनुसूचित जाती, जमाती आणि नागरिकांचा मागासवर्ग प्रवर्गासाठीही जागांचे सविस्तर आरक्षण जाहीर करण्यात आले आहे.
\nनिवडणूक कार्यक्रमानुसार १६ जानेवारी २०२६ रोजी जिल्हाधिकाऱ्यांमार्फत निवडणुकीच्या सूचनेची प्रसिद्धी केली जाईल. याच दिवसापासून नामनिर्देशनपत्रे स्वीकारण्यास सुरुवात होईल आणि २१ जानेवारीपर्यंत उमेदवारांना आपले अर्ज दाखल करता येतील. २२ जानेवारीला अर्जांची छाननी केली जाणार असून उमेदवारी अर्ज मागे घेण्याची अंतिम मुदत २७ जानेवारी असेल. त्याच दिवशी उमेदवारांना निवडणूक चिन्हांचे वाटप करून अंतिम यादी प्रसिद्ध करण्यात येईल. राज्यातील सत्ताधारी महायुती आणि विरोधी महाविकास आघाडीसाठी ही निवडणूक प्रतिष्ठेची ठरणार असून आतापासूनच राजकीय मोर्चेबांधणीला वेग आला आहे.
