कुलगाम जिल्ह्यातील चिंगम परिसरामध्ये काही दहशतवादी लपून बसल्याची माहिती सुरक्षा दलाला मिळाली होती. त्यानुसार जवानांनी परिसराला घेराव घालून शोधमोहिम सुरू केली.

यावेळी चकमकीदरम्यान दोन दहशतवाद्यांचा खात्मा करण्यात सुरक्षा दलाला यश मिळाले.

दरम्यान, मागील आठवड्यात पाकिस्तानी सैनिकांनी कुपवाडा जिल्ह्यात प्रत्यक्ष नियंत्रण रेषेजवळ गोळीबार व तोफगोळ्यांनी मारा केला होता. यात भारतीय लष्कराचे दोन जवान शहीद झाले होते.
