पेट्रोल आणि डिझेलच्या दरवाढीवरून काँग्रेसने शुक्रवारी (१५ मे, २०२६) केंद्र सरकारवर निशाणा साधला. यामुळे महागाई वाढणार असून आर्थिक विकासात घट होईल, असा दावा काँग्रेसने केला आहे.

पक्षाचे सरचिटणीस जयराम रमेश म्हणाले की, आंतरराष्ट्रीय बाजारात कच्च्या तेलाच्या किमती कमी असताना मोदी सरकारने ग्राहकांना दिलासा देण्याऐवजी त्यांची लूट केली. सरकारी तेल कंपन्यांनी चार वर्षांच्या कालावधीनंतर शुक्रवारी पेट्रोल आणि डिझेलच्या दरात सुधारणा केली असून, दोन्ही इंधनांच्या दरात प्रति लिटर ३ रुपयांनी वाढ केली आहे. सूत्रांनुसार, राष्ट्रीय राजधानी दिल्लीत पेट्रोलचा दर ९४.७७ रुपये प्रति लिटरवरून ९७.७७ रुपये प्रति लिटर झाला आहे.
