“पुढची राष्ट्रीय क्रीडा स्पर्धा उत्तराखंड राज्यात होणार आहे. त्यासाठी आत्तापासूनच आम्ही तयारी सुरू केली आहे. ६० टक्के कृती आराखडा तयारही करण्यात आला आहे. आमचे लक्ष्य केवळ राष्ट्रीय क्रीडा स्पर्धांपुरते मर्यादित नसून पुढील वर्षी पॅरिस येथे आयोजित केल्या जाणाऱ्या ऑलिम्पिक क्रीडा स्पर्धांमध्ये महाराष्ट्राच्या खेळाडूंना पदके कशी मिळवता येईल या दृष्टीनेच आम्ही तयारी सुरू केली आहे आणि मला खात्री आहे की या ऑलिम्पिक स्पर्धेमध्ये महाराष्ट्राचा खेळाडू पदकांच्या व्यासपीठावर उभा राहिलेला दिसेल,” असेही शिरगावकर यांनी सांगितले.
\nगोवा येथे चालू असलेल्या राष्ट्रीय क्रीडा स्पर्धेत स्मिता शिरोळे महाराष्ट्राच्या पथकप्रमुख म्हणून कार्यरत आहेत. यावेळी क्रीडा खात्याचे उपसचिव सुनील हांजे, ऑलंपिक संघटना खजिनदार धनंजय भोंसले, महाराष्ट्र पथक प्रमुख स्मिता शिरोळे, रणसिंग डेरे- कक्षाधिकारी- क्रीडा मंत्रालय व नवनाथ फडतरे आदी उपस्थित होते. राज्य सरकार व ऑलंपिक संघटना यांचे सयुक्तिक प्रयत्न फळाला आले.
