राजकीय पार्श्वभूमी
\nश्रीकांत पांगारकर हे २००१ ते २००६ या काळात शिवसेनेचे सदस्य म्हणून जालना नगर परिषदेवर नगरसेवक होते. २०११ मध्ये शिवसेनेने तिकीट नाकारल्यानंतर त्यांनी उजव्या विचारसरणीच्या हिंदू जनजागृती समितीत सहभाग घेतल्याचे समोर आले होते.

\nगंभीर स्वरूपाच्या आरोपांची पार्श्वभूमी असताना निवडणुकीतील हा विजय आणि त्यानंतर साजरा करण्यात आलेला जल्लोष यामुळे सामाजिक व राजकीय वर्तुळात तीव्र प्रतिक्रिया उमटत आहेत. अनेकांनी या घटनेवर प्रश्न उपस्थित केले असून, न्यायप्रक्रिया सुरू असलेल्या प्रकरणांतील आरोपींच्या राजकीय सहभागावर पुन्हा एकदा चर्चा सुरू झाली आहे.
\nदरम्यान, कायद्याच्या दृष्टीने पांगारकर हे जामिनावर मुक्त असून दोष सिद्ध होईपर्यंत त्यांना आरोपीच मानले जाईल, अशी भूमिका कायदेतज्ज्ञांकडून मांडली जात आहे. जालना महापालिकेतील या निकालामुळे राज्याच्या राजकारणात आणि सार्वजनिक चर्चेत नवे वादळ निर्माण झाले आहे.
