आगामी लोकसभा निवडणुकीसाठी काँग्रेसने आपला जाहीरनामा प्रसिद्ध करत, जम्मू आणि काश्मीर राज्यातील सैन्य दलांना विशेष अधिकार देणारा कायदा (अफस्पा) रद्द करण्याचा उल्लेख केला होता. त्यानंतर लगेचच भाजप नेत्यांनी याबाबत तीव्र प्रतिक्रिया नोंदविण्यास सुरुवात केली होती. अरुण जेटली, योगी आदित्यनाथ, अमित शहा यांसारख्या भाजपच्या बड्या नेत्यांनी काँग्रेसचा हा निवडणूक जाहीरनामा देशाचे तुकडे करणारा असल्याचे म्हंटले होते.
