\nरोमी भिंडर यांच्यासाठी दिलासादायक बाब म्हणजे, अँटी करप्शन युनिटने (ACU) केलेल्या चौकशीत त्यांना भ्रष्टाचाराच्या आरोपातून ‘क्लीन चिट’ दिली आहे. तपासात असे समोर आले की, त्यांनी कोणाशीही संशयास्पद संभाषण केले नव्हते. तसेच, त्यांच्या शेजारी बसलेला १५ वर्षीय युवा खेळाडू वैभव सूर्यवंशी यालाही या प्रकरणात दोषमुक्त करण्यात आले असून त्याच्यावर कोणतीही कारवाई झालेली नाही.
तपासादरम्यान रोमी भिंडर यांनी स्पष्ट केले की, त्यांनी बीसीसीआयकडे फोन वापरण्यासाठी सवलत मागितली होती. आयपीएल सुरू होण्यापूर्वी ते गंभीर आजारी होते आणि फुफ्फुसांच्या विकारामुळे काही काळ आयसीयूमध्ये होते. उपचारांच्या संदर्भात डॉक्टरांशी संवाद साधण्यासाठी त्यांनी फोन सोबत ठेवला होता. मात्र, बीसीसीआयने त्यांचे हे समर्थन मान्य केले असले तरी, डगआऊटमधील फोनचा वापर हा शिस्तीचा भंग मानत त्यांना दंड ठोठावला आहे. आयपीएलच्या पारदर्शकतेसाठी बोर्डाने हा कठोर निर्णय घेतला आहे.
